Borghamns Stenförädling AB is one of the few companies in Sweden that specializes in the restoration of buildings and decorative elements. Alongside our skilled master stonemasons, we have completed several projects, including the restoration of limestone details at the Nordic Museum in Stockholm, the windows at Linköping Cathedral, and the arches in Alvastra Monastery.
We restore Sweden’s beautiful buildings
In Sweden, we have many beautiful historical buildings, including numerous churches. One notable example is Linköping Cathedral, which features stunning decorations, from intricate window designs to beautifully crafted floors. In the past, when builders hand-drilled to extract limestone, they didn’t always have the option to select the best stone for outdoor details—known as core stone. Instead, they had to use whatever material was readily available, even if it was less than ideal.
Over time, weather, wind, and air pollution have damaged these structures, necessitating restoration today. If builders had been able to use core stone, as is done in modern construction, the durability of these buildings would have been significantly enhanced.
